Founded in the UK in 1985 by two commercial divers, Tekmar has grown to be a UK international success story, right out of County Durham. Protecting one of the most critical components of offshore wind farms - the subsea cables that carry clean electricity from turbines to shore - is at the core of Tekmar’s business.

Tekmar helps optimise cable routes, assess seabed conditions and identify the most effective protection solutions and it’s worked with ScottishPower and Iberdrola across major offshore wind projects including East Anglia ONE, Baltic Sea projects Wikinger, Baltic Eagle and Windanker alongside Vineyard Wind in the United States. This work over the years has generated an estimated £15 - £20 million of investment into the business – helping it transform from a small scale company to a global exporter of expertise.

Innovation remains central to the business. Projects delivered with ScottishPower and Iberdrola have strengthened Tekmar’s engineering experience and technical capabilities. It has also expanded its graduate and apprentice programmes to help deliver its contract wins with us alongside creating new partnerships with schools, colleges and STEM organisations across North East England.
