What you’ll be doing

Our five-year Accountancy Graduate Apprentice Programme offers you the opportunity to develop academic skills alongside practical and professional skills. You’ll benefit from on-the-job experience, while studying a Masters qualification at university. With a flexible approach to learning, the course is delivered via blended learning (online and face-to-face). Approximately 80% of your time will be spent in the workplace as you support a range of finance activities that enhance your learning. We’re taking a hybrid approach to working so your time will be split between university, home and the office.

You’ll have the opportunity to experience financial accounting and reporting, helping to ensure we maintain robust financial records and publish accurate information in line with our legal obligations. You’ll support the monitoring of Business Performance to make sure we track performance of the business against key budget and forecast targets. And you’ll experience Planning and Investment activities to support our big plans to invest in a Net Zero future.

You’ll also gain invaluable experience across a diverse range of finance activities. With over 150 people in our team, you’ll be exposed to a wealth of knowledge, you’ll see new challenges and opportunities, and you’ll create a network of great colleagues. It’s designed to bring out the best in you and to introduce you to how we structure, operate and manage the finances of a major innovative energy business. With so many opportunities to gain experience, this is an opportunity that you won’t get from a degree alone

What’s in it for you

Our programme brings learning and earning together, allowing you to gain valuable work experience while studying for your degree. You’ll work towards obtaining a nationally recognised Masters qualification while earning a competitive salary and developing new skills and knowledge. Working alongside experienced professionals who have a deep understanding of the business, you’ll learn from experts in your field and have support from a mentor, enabling you to develop your expertise and contribute to the team's success. Throughout the programme, you’ll continue to build your knowledge of finance and gain valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges of the industry.

In addition, this integrated master’s qualification follows the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) syllabus so, on completion of your programme, you’ll have a Master’s degree AND a professional global accountancy qualification. By choosing the accelerated path to chartered accountancy, you’ll embark on a streamlined and efficient journey toward qualification as a Chartered Certified Accountant. This path compresses the time frame needed to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills from 7 to just 5 years, enabling you to kick start your accountancy career earlier than peers who pursue traditional routes.
