Lanarkshire social enterprise set to increase community support with £50k funding boost
Clydesdale Community Initiatives (CCI) has installed a new solar energy system at its Langloch Farm base, helping to reduce operational costs and secure the future of its community hub.

The project was made possible through a £42,000 award from our Transmission Net Zero Fund. The solar panels now provide renewable electricity for the farm's workshops, offices and shared facilities, cutting outgoings and reducing carbon emissions.
Savings on energy bills will be reinvested directly into programmes that support local people, allowing the organisation to increase capacity, offer more opportunities and ensure the long-term future of the centre.
Langloch Farm is home to CCI's enterprise and inclusion centre, which works with people who face barriers to participation, including those with learning disabilities and long-term mental health conditions. Individuals are referred through social work services, NHS community mental health teams and third-sector organisations.
Members are responsible for the farm's maintenance and gain practical skills by taking part in activities such as crafting, woodwork, cooking and gardening.
The new installation strengthens the centre's role as a welcoming, inclusive space while demonstrating how community organisations can combine social impact with environmental responsibility.
Ruth McElhinney, Community Development Manager, said: "This project has made a significant difference to Langloch Farm. By reducing our energy costs, we can invest more in the people who rely on our services.
"It means we can reach more individuals, develop new opportunities and continue building a community where everyone feels valued. The environmental benefits are important for building a sustainable future that directly benefits local people."
Graham Campbell, Director at SP Energy Networks, added: "We're proud to support CCI in strengthening such an important community asset. This project shows how investment in clean energy can deliver practical benefits - reducing costs, supporting inclusion and helping community organisations thrive for the long term."
