As one of the top six Pipe Band’s in the World, the ScottishPower Pipe Band is celebrating 26 years of global success by releasing a new album which features a selection from the band’s current repertoire.
Established in 1989, the pipe band focusses on uniting talented pipers and drummers from across the world and bringing traditional Scottish music to an international audience. Previously supported by ScottishPower and now supported by the ScottishPower Foundation, the band has scooped numerous titles including Scottish Champions and Cowal Champions and has delighted audiences around the world, including performances for the Pope and Sir Paul McCartney.
The new album, ‘Live’ features piping greats and guest performers such as Stevie Lawrence and Daniel Griffin and is an opportunity for the band to showcase their talent and musical ability through the unique, exciting and highly competitive sound produced by the band. Piping and Drumming has increased in popularity over the last decade and the band is delighted to welcome in the next generation of musicians, with its youngest piper just 20 years old – reinforcing the importance of traditional music to listeners of all ages.
