ScottishPower proudly joined the huge crowd at Glasgow Pride on Saturday 19 July, with our biggest ever staff presence at the event.
Over 100 employees from all areas of the company, led by our award-winning In Fuse LGBTQ+ staff network, marched together as one, joining tens of thousands of participants in one of Scotland’s biggest, loudest and proudest Pride events.
Our delegation was front and centre and our colourful Pride EV, led by the world leading ScottishPower Pipe Band, drew cheers from the crowd as the march weaved its way from Kelvingrove Park through the heart of the city centre.
This year’s march was especially powerful thanks to the presence of our senior team.
Keith Anderson, ScottishPower Chief Executive, Charlie Jordan, CEO, ScottishPower Renewables and Nicola Connolly CEO SP Energy Networks all joined the parade, reaffirming that a commitment to inclusion and allyship at all levels is embedded in our company culture.
Speaking at the march, Keith Anderson said: “As a company, we are the people that work for us. The more we represent the society that surrounds us, the better it is for all of us. We are a company that welcomes everyone and for us, it’s important to celebrate all of our diversity by coming together at Pride.”
Stephanie Todd, Chair of our In Fuse staff network, added: “What a fantastic day, and turnout from our employees - every year gets better and better and this was by far our biggest Pride march yet. Visibility and allyship matter and for us Pride is showing our colleagues, customers, and communities that we stand for fairness, acceptance and inclusion, and are a business where everyone can be proud to be who they are.”
