ScottishPower has been recognised for its ‘Outstanding Commitment to the Environment’ at the annual Metro Employer's Excellence Awards.

The gala event, held in Manchester, celebrates the impact of the UK's leading businesses and employers.

The green energy company’s sustainability team led by Dr Sam Gardner, Head of Climate Change & Sustainability, collected the award from host Vernon Kay.

The team works tirelessly to support ScottishPower’s drive to be a strong, successful, and sustainable company that responsibly delivers a cleaner and greener future for people, businesses, and communities.

Speaking following the event, Sam Gardner said: “Sustainability is at the heart of our purpose at ScottishPower, so it was brilliant to see that recognised with this prestigious award.

“Our strategy, Action2030, is driving ambitious goals across the company, from our response to the climate and nature crises to our engagement with the communities we work alongside we are committed to delivering a just transition.

“This award is a really welcome endorsement of the shared commitment across the whole of ScottishPower to championing sustainability at every level.”

The Employer’s Excellence Awards was established to shine a light on the success of employers – large and small – as well as the leaders, people and personalities who are demonstrating a real commitment to best practice.

ScottishPower was also nominated in the Large Employer of the Year category while its award-winning LGBTQ+ employee network In-Fuse was shortlisted by the organisers in the ‘Best Employee Support Network’ category.
