ScottishPower and its parent company Iberdrola have been honoured with the Women’s Football Impact Award at the inaugural Global Football Industry Awards, held in London.
The prestigious ceremony, hosted by former England stars Peter Crouch and Jamie Carragher, celebrated the visionaries and organisations driving innovation and progress across the global football industry.
The award recognises ScottishPower and Iberdrola’s long-standing commitment to championing women’s football and creating opportunities at every level of the game.
ScottishPower’s landmark partnership with Scottish Women’s Football and the Scottish Women’s Premier League is energising the women’s game across Scotland, from grassroots to elite level.
Iberdrola, a global leader in electrification, has supported more than 100 women’s sports competitions worldwide, reinforcing its commitment to gender equality and inclusion. Outside of Scotland, its support for women’s football extends across both Spain and Portugal.
Keith Anderson, Chief Executive of ScottishPower, said: “This award is a huge recognition of our game-changing work with Scottish Women’s Football and the SWPL, and acknowledgment of the contribution we’re making to women’s football alongside our colleagues across wider Iberdrola group. Together, we’re working hand in hand with our partners to accelerate progress and equality for women’s football in Scotland and beyond.
“At ScottishPower, we’re rooted in our communities and are incredibly proud to be part of a movement that supports girls and women at all ages and stages of the game, all the way from the Highlands & Islands and the Youth Challenge Cups to the elite level of the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League.”
The Global Football Industry Awards brought together leading clubs, brands, agencies, and governing bodies to celebrate the unsung heroes shaping the future of football worldwide.
