“It’s important to me to see that the company is building a sustainable future. We’re managing and creating the IT systems to run the processes that make that work possible. In areas like SP Energy Networks, we’re heavily involved in making improvements and resolving issues for the equipment that makes green generation a reality. It’s a really positive sign for ScottishPower going forward – we’re trying to stay at the leading edge, not just keeping up with the market, but innovating to get ahead of our competitors. It’s exciting to be part of that”.

ScottishPower is part of the Iberdrola Group, one of the world’s largest integrated utility companies and a world leader in wind energy. ScottishPower is the first integrated energy company in the UK to generate 100% green electricity. Our focus is on wind energy, smart grids and driving the change to a cleaner, electric future. To make that happen, we’re investing over £7m every working day, speeding up the transition to cleaner electric transport, improving air quality and over time, driving down bills.
“I’ve always liked puzzles and problem solving - that’s what I like about security. It’s a technical problem that needs to be solved and there’s a new problem every day that you need to solve. It just keeps you on your toes and that’s something that I really like – Security is something I’ve always had a real interest in. Our IT provides services to all parts of ScottishPower so we have to understand the businesses to design the right levels of security for each purpose. It’s a challenging job, and as we bring in new technologies it is going to get bigger”.
Lynda - Head of IT Security, Risk & Quality
“I came to Scotland from France to study a Masters in Information Security and I joined ScottishPower not long after I graduated, in 2017. I’ve worked in different teams since, first in the IT Security Team working on cybersecurity issues, then in the web development team working on analytic projects. From here, I’m now specialising and focusing on the newer technologies, like process automation or chatbots – developing systems that make things better for colleagues and customers, making processes more efficient. There’s a lot of change coming in IT, which makes ScottishPower a great place to work”.
