Engineering Pre-Apprenticeship Testimonials
Lewis Bundey, Apprentice Jointer
When I realised that the course at Edinburgh College would give me the opportunity to study electrical engineering and get some hands on experience at ScottishPower’s training centre I applied right away. The course gave me the chance to work towards a Level 5 Certificate in Electrical Engineering, develop my knowledge of Health and Safety in a work environment, as well as having the opportunity to gain an apprenticeship with ScottishPower at the end of the course.
Sarah Burke, Apprentice Fitter
I knew that I wanted a job that was both interesting and challenging which was what drew me to engineering in the first place. When I started to do some research I realised that engineering gives you so many career options. The course at Edinburgh College was perfect for me because there was the chance to experience some of the trades available on the apprentice programme before starting my career- this is something you don’t get on most college courses.
Harris Mathieson, Apprentice Jointer
When I didn’t get into the course I wanted at uni I realised I had to start looking at other options. With an interest in Electrical Engineering I discovered that the course at Glasgow Clyde College included practical, hands on training at ScottishPower’s training centre. I got a chance to experience the different trade routes for apprentices and, at the same time, develop the relevant hand skills.
Jack Whittaker, Apprentice Jointer
Although I lived in Ayrshire, I chose this course at Glasgow Clyde College because there were opportunities for the top students to gain a place on the ScottishPower Apprentice Programme. The bursary of £200 per month really helped with my travel expenses.
