Graduates 2021

Our Business

ScottishPower is part of the Iberdrola Group, one of the world’s largest integrated utility companies and a world leader in wind energy. We’re proud to say we produce 100% green electricity and are well on our way on our ultimate journey to Net Zero.

Within SP Energy Networks our focus is on harnessing technology and innovation to create the networks of the future. Our team is building a dynamic network to meet the changing demands for electricity and increasingly, renewable electricity – safely, securely and sustainably in the communities we serve.

We need talented, hardworking and flexible people to join us and deliver a better future, quicker.

What do we offer?

Your programme is tailored to you and your personal development and will include a combination of behavioural and technical modules and placements. As a graduate trainee and part of ScottishPower, you’ll have a range of benefits as well as a varied and interesting career path, including:

  • Starting Salary will be £28,400
  • Stakeholder pension scheme
  • Generous holiday entitlement
  • Subsidised gym facilities
  • A range of employee discounts

What will you be doing?

As we strive to achieve Net Zero, we’re focused on creating innovative solutions to decarbonise our network. In the Centre of Excellence (COE), we’re at the forefront of this drive, so you’ll be instrumental in challenging our current processes and systems to enable our business to deliver smarter and cleaner technology. Through digitalisation and forecasting, you’ll use your powers to enable decision making and create efficiencies across SP Energy Networks, helping to predict the load on the network and reduce faults, ensuring that the electricity continues to flow throughout our network. As our communities adopt more sustainable lifestyles, such as increased use of electric vehicles and heat pumps, your analysis on the impact on the low voltage network will optimise decision making and enhance performance.

As a COE graduate in Glasgow, you’ll harness the power of new data to drive digital transformation at the core of our business, enabling electrifying new outcomes. Placements within the business will support your understanding of both the company and the energy industry, allowing you to use the data and systems to design the network of the future. Your understanding of key components such as asset management, customer service, financial planning, network planning and the regulatory framework will be crucial to support agile working. And development of your personal network will enhance our innovative culture that thrives on diverse ways of thinking and shared success. It’s an exciting time for a graduate to join our team as we help shape the future of the energy industry. We’re being deliberately disruptive, and we think you should be too!

You’ll find information on all our current and future projects on our web page: SP Energy Networks.

Your two-year graduate programme is tailored to you, helping you understand the career path that’s right for you. You’ll have the opportunity to experience different areas of the business to explore your areas of interest and your strengths. And at the end of your programme we’ll help you find the right role for you.

Who are we looking for?

We need people who are ambitious with a desire to learn, who embrace new ideas and challenge others to think differently.
