On Sunday 25 June 2017, ScottishPower held a free family event at George Square to celebrate the ‘Power of Glasgow’.

Hosted by Glasgow comedian and presenter Des Clarke, the event showcased Glasgow’s past, present and future with power. There were fun activities for families and a special giveaway of a zero emission Nissan Leaf hatchback worth around £30,000.
The family afternoon was put on by ScottishPower as it celebrates its new headquarters in Glasgow, the first single use building to be constructed in the city for 25 years.
Around five thousand people dropped into the event during the afternoon. Our SMART Home, interactive science zone, Virtual Reality videos and fidget spinners were a great hit with children and adults alike having fun whilst learning about ScottishPower and all that we do.
All parts of our business and community work were on display, the ScottishPower Pipe Band entertained the crowds and a thousand people entered the competition to win the electric car.
Keith Anderson, ScottishPower CEO, said: “Thanks to everyone who made it along to the ‘Celebrating the Power of Glasgow’ event. We successfully transformed George Square into ScottishPower Square for the day and it looked amazing.
"We were delighted to showcase Glasgow’s wonderful heritage with electricity and offer a glimpse into what the future holds. People make Glasgow as the saying goes, and Glasgow makes power, not just for our communities nearby but around the world.
"Thanks to everyone who made ‘Celebrating the Power of Glasgow’ such a success."
