SP Energy Networks will be carrying out work in Edge Lane next weekend, as part of a £6.5 million investment plan to modernise the electrical network in Liverpool.
The work is scheduled to commence from 8pm Friday 10th August, working through to completion on 6am Monday 13th August.
During this time there will be outbound (eastbound) double-lane closures with traffic management in place, near the entrance to Liverpool Shopping Park at Montrose Way. The traffic signals at the Montrose Way junction will be reconfigured to cater for the outbound lane restrictions and road-users are advised to expect delays in both directions and to seek alternative routes where possible. SP Energy Networks will make every effort to minimise inconvenience and disruption, but it will be necessary to work in to the evenings to complete the job. Access to businesses and properties will be maintained throughout the works.
Since May SP Energy Networks has been working to replace over 5.5km of 132,000 volt cable, between Lister Drive to Wavertree.
Working in conjunction with Liverpool City Council, the full programme is scheduled to be complete by October 2018, with the following works still in progress:
- 1st June to 26th September: Church Road, Edge Lane and Ardleigh Rd
- 14th June to 28th August: Pighue Lane, Sandown Park and Lane
- 22nd June to 12th September: Trackside (Network Rail)
- 10th August to 17th September: Lister Dr, Cheadle Avenue and Prescott Rd.
This project demonstrates SP Energy Networks continued commitment to invest in Merseyside and follows previous upgrades in the area. The planned work will benefit local communities, reinforcing supplies for the existing 70,000 homes and businesses connected to the network, as well as facilitating future growth for decades to come
