Following today’s (Thursday 4th September) demolition of the final two steel ‘Precipitator’ structures at Cockenzie Power Station, work over the next few months will focus on the internal strip-out of materials from the station buildings at Cockenzie, and general dismantling works at the coal plant
Today’s controlled explosive demolition is the eighth in total to be carried out by ScottishPower’s contractor Brown and Mason, and will again take place at 2pm.
George Camps, ScottishPower project manager, said:
“We are pleased that progress on the demolition work is continuing on schedule. Once the last steel precipitators are removed, we will focus on internal building works and carrying out general dismantling works at the coal plant. This follows a major engineering project to remove the coal conveyor last month. We will continue to keep the community updated on progress at the site in the coming months.”
