City’s first-time visitors drive away with free family car after competition win

27/07/2017

A pair of tourists on their first trip to Glasgow have driven home in a free electric car worth around £30,000 after winning a competition run by ScottishPower. The energy firm hosted the giveaway as part of a celebratory weekend welcoming the opening of its new HQ in the city.

Carolyn Henderson, from Durham, entered the competition at ScottishPower’s family fun day held in George Square while visiting the city for the first time with husband Peter and his parents.

The event showcased Glasgow’s past, present and future with power with fun activities for families and featured a special giveaway of a zero emission Nissan Leaf hatchback.

Car winner Carolyn Henderson said: “We are so delighted to have won the Nissan Leaf car, it is lovely to drive, and so easy. I thought it would take some time to get used to an automatic, but I'm already pretty comfortable with it.

“We had a lovely trip to Glasgow and I still can't quite believe how lucky we've been. I’d really like to thank everyone at ScottishPower, the whole family is absolutely over the moon.”
