ScottishPower Thermal Generation would like to invite candidates to apply for the new Advanced Level 3 Maintenance Operations Engineering Technician (MOET) Apprenticeship based at our Damhead Creek and Shoreham Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Plants.
The Apprenticeship scheme covers a number of disciplines. You will be following the Electrical & Electrical Control and Instrumentation route. The Apprenticeship lasts for 3.5 years which includes on the job learning at a designated plant, attainment BTEC Electrical/Mechanical Engineering through college blocks, an NVQ Level 3 extended Diploma plus a suite of enhanced training courses delivered by Uniper Engineering Academy in Nottingham. All apprentices will complete an end point assessment to finish their apprenticeship Journey.
As the training is delivered within Uniper Engineering Academy you will spend the majority of the first year away from your designated plant.
When it comes to who we are looking for, you should be ambitious and flexible and have achieved at a minimum the following qualifications:
- Five GCSE’s – Grades A-C, 4-9 / National 5’s (or previous Scottish equivalent), must include English, Mathematics & Science.
You’ll also need to be a highly-motivated team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn. You should also be a good problem solver and confident decision maker.
The apprenticeship programme will be the first step on the path towards developing you as an engineering technician and for the right candidate could lead towards a fully supported under graduate engineering degree and a future within the business as an EC&I Engineer.

Starting salary will be £10,658 plus £2,000 South East Allowance for the duration of the Apprenticeship.
