Our Generation business ensures we have enough power to continue delivering the energy needed.
We deliver competitive energy from across our generation portfolio of coal, hydro, gas and biomass generation, while minimising the environmental impact.
Generation is organised around its physical assets. These include coal, gas and, as a company with an acute sense of the bigger picture, other forward thinking ways of providing power such as hydro-electric power stations, CCGT power stations and our Daldowie sludge processing plant near Glasgow, which manufactures fuel pellets from sewage sludge.
In the short-to-medium term, Generation's impact on energy management activities is primarily through agreeing and meeting production commitments. These include plant efficiency, availability, flexibility and reliability targets and maintenance outage schedules. Their remit doesn’t end there though. Generation is also charged with originating value-enhancing opportunities for the business and in this regards, the Generation team work closely with Iberdrola's Global Energy Management team to establish and deliver key production forecasts.
Managing Our Environmental Impact
Our approach to managing environmental issues is underpinned by the principles of Iberdrola's Environmental Policy.
The ScottishPower Generation Integrated Management System Policies outline our local approach to the management of health, safety, environment, quality and asset management of business continuity.
We operate an integrated management system certified to the international standard ISO 14001, ISO9001 and OHSAS18001 and two power stations that meet the requirements of the EU’s Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS).
