UK Government appoints ScottishPower CEO to Industrial Strategy Advisory Council

The UK Government has appointed ScottishPower CEO Keith Anderson to its Industrial Strategy Advisory Council in support of its business growth drive.

Reporting to the Chancellor and the Business and Trade Secretary, the independent council brings together UK business and academia experts to advise and make recommendations to support the Government’s industrial strategy for growth. 

Keith was named British Business Leader of the Year 2025 at the British Business Awards for his contribution to the energy sector and broader impact on the UK economy.

Under his leadership, the UK has become a top investment destination for ScottishPower’s parent company, Iberdrola, with Keith at the helm of its biggest ever investment programme.  

ScottishPower will invest a record £24 billion in the UK through to 2028 to rewire Britain and build more clean power generation, and modernising and decarbonising the energy system and, supporting supply chain growth and job creation.

Their expertise will be invaluable as we drive forward an industrial strategy focused on growth, innovation and supporting businesses to scale, start and compete.”  

The energy sector is an engine for UK growth, unlocking the grid and delivering more power to back every industry, business and household in the country.

ScottishPower has billions of pounds worth of projects already under construction including Eastern Green Link 1, a new subsea cable to move more power around the country, the vital cross border onshore transmission line to help remove bottlenecks both sides of the Scottish and English border and two offshore wind farms as part of its East Anglia Hub. 

Keith is an Honorary Fellow of the Energy Institute and was recently awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Strathclyde – recognising his role in driving forward the UK’s clean energy ambitions and transforming how we power our lives.
