SP Energy Networks has commenced a £1.6 million investment programme of works in Huyton, replacing and renewing over 4km of existing 33,000 volt cable, without interruptions to power supply.
The work on site commenced during the first week of June and is being undertaken by a local contractor Walsh Civil Engineering Ltd, in collaboration with SP Energy Networks engineers and Knowsley Borough Council.
The project is being carried out in 5 stages so that only a small length of road is being worked on at any one time, ensuring that potential disruption is kept to a minimum, and is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of October.
SP Energy Networks Engineer, Dylan Oliver, said:
“This is a significant scheme to modernise the electricity network in Huyton and to improve the service we offer to our customers.
“We have worked closely with residents and the council to carry out the project with as little disruption as possible. We are targeting to finish the upgrade in early October when the new cable will be fully installed and energised, completing 4 months of continued investment and hard work from the teams involved.
“We would like to thank residents for their co-operation and understanding while we complete these essential works.”
