10/09/2025

ScottishPower is welcoming its largest ever cohort of early career professionals as the new recruits officially start work.

Early Careers

A record 338 graduates and trainees have joined the company this month, kicking off their careers in roles that span engineering, cyber security, project management and more.

From Glasgow to Merseyside, North Wales to London, the new recruits are stepping into roles that will place them at the heart of the UK’s energy transition, supporting ScottishPower’s £24bn investment programme to modernise infrastructure and accelerate progress towards a green future. Their work will help upgrade transmission networks, connect more renewable electricity to the grid, and support the development of offshore wind and green energy solutions.

It’s the largest early careers intake ScottishPower has ever welcomed – and it includes a 59% jump in apprentices and a 47% rise in graduate hires compared to last year. The company has significantly ramped up its investment in talent, reflecting the growing demand for skilled professionals across its businesses signalling the company’s commitment to building the workforce of the future.

The two-year graduate programme and hands-on trainee schemes are designed to fast-track careers while giving participants the chance to work on major infrastructure and energy projects across the UK.

Sarah McNulty, UK People Director, said, “At ScottishPower we’re not just investing in infrastructure - we’re investing in people. Our apprenticeships are designed to give young people the tools, experience, and support they need to thrive in the energy sector.

“All our programmes are about building careers, shaping futures, and creating a workforce that’s ready to lead the transition to a cleaner, greener and more secure energy future.”

Radiance Adegboyega, a Software Engineering Graduate Apprentice said, “I believe I'm in the right place with a company that has the interest of the people at heart and the interest of the planet as a whole.”
