ScottishPower Backs Cancer Research UK’s Glasgow Christmas Carol Concert

02/12/2025

ScottishPower has announced its continued support for Cancer Research UK by sponsoring the charity’s annual Christmas Carol Concert, set to take place at Glasgow Cathedral on Thursday, December 4.

The event, hosted by STV News entertainment reporter Laura Boyd, will feature performances from artists including Nathan Evans, Saint Phnx, and opera stars Gordon Wilson and Judith Howarth. Local choirs and a ScottishPower piper will also take part, creating a festive evening aimed at raising vital funds for cancer research.

Boyd launched the event alongside Megan Campbell, a mother from Alexandria who was diagnosed with breast cancer at just 33. Megan, who is currently receiving targeted treatment developed through Cancer Research UK-funded research, attended with her four-year-old daughter Lily.

I’m not letting cancer rule my life. We’re making memories that last a lifetime – especially at Christmas,” Megan said.

Cancer Research UK warns that around 34,800 people in Scotland are diagnosed with cancer each year, and by 2040, one person in the UK will be diagnosed every two minutes. While survival rates have doubled since the 1970s, the charity says more research is needed to improve outcomes.

ScottishPower has partnered with Cancer Research UK since 2012, raising more than £40 million to date.

Andrew Ward, CEO of Customer Business at ScottishPower, said:

Over £40m for life-saving work is nothing short of phenomenal. We’re determined we’re not stopping now and are delighted to support Cancer Research UK’s Christmas carol concert.”

Tickets for the concert are available now, with all proceeds going toward life-saving research.
