SCDI 2010 Annual LectureThe Scottish Council for Development and Industry (SCDI) is an independent membership network with a key aim to strengthen Scotland's competitiveness by influencing Government policies to encourage sustainable economic prosperity.

Founded in 1931, SCDI has about 1200 members across Scotland’s manufacturing and service sectors, universities and colleges, local government and enterprise networks, trade associations and professional bodies, arts organisations, churches and trade unions.

The Annual Lecture is one the highlights of the SCDI calendar. Each year a leading national or international figure from business or government is invited to set out their vision for their area of expertise to 250 senior decision makers from Scottish business, politics, trade unions, education, public services and the voluntary sector. Speakers in previous years have included Paul Walsh, CEO if Diageo, David Reid, Chairman of Tesco and Sir John Elvidge, Permanent Secretary of the Scottish Government.
