ScottishPower today welcomed the decision by the Department of Trade and Industry to clear the Company's proposed merger with PacifiCorp.

Commenting on the announcement, Ian Russell, Deputy Chief Executive and Finance Director, said: "ScottishPower is pleased to have passed another important milestone in the regulatory process.

"We are similarly on schedule in the United States where we expect to achieve the required state and federal regulatory approvals within our anticipated timeframe."
