ScottishPower Supports New Scheme for Accredited Sales People

16 June 2004

ScottishPower is pleased to announce it's support for EnergySure, a new scheme to ensure the quality of sales services provided by the energy industry and address public concerns on mis-selling.

EnergySure has been developed in conjunction with the Electricity Association (EA) and has been established to improve customer confidence in face-to face selling.

The scheme will produce a nationally accredited training programme for all sales agents within the industry. It is intended that the programme will ensure all agents are trained to a pre-determined standard that is monitored by the Electricity Training Association (ETA). The scheme is also supported by the Institute of Sales & Marketing Management (ISMM).

EnergySure will compile a database of accredited salespeople that will provide the industry with a reliable register of agents.

The Managing Director of Customer Sales and Services, Willie MacDiarmid, said: "I fully support the launch of the EnergySure initiative and see it as a major step forward in producing high quality sales from a fully accredited sales force which is ultimately in the best interest of the customer.

"ScottishPower has always been at the forefront of initiatives in seeking out new ways to improve the customer's experience and EnergySure and other innovative ideas will undoubtedly assist in achieving that goal."

Initially five companies; ScottishPower, LE Group, Powergen, SEEBOARD and TXU will pilot EnergySure with the aim rolling it out to the rest of the industry in due course.
