ScottishPower Cuts Business Bills By Almost 6%

3 November 1997

Small business customers will save an average of £75 a year on their electricity bills under new ScottishPower tariffs which came into effect from 1 November 1997.

The reductions -- averaging 5.9% -- underline ScottishPower's commitment to provide real value to customers.

The average bill for small businesses has now fallen in real terms by almost a third since privatisation six years ago. The latest reduction follows cuts of 2.4% for the average domestic electricity customer, introduced in July this year.

Bill Landels, Managing Director of ScottishPower's Energy Supply business, said:
"This is excellent news for our business customers. These latest tariff changes have reduced their average electricity bill by over 32% in real terms since privatisation.

"ScottishPower is committed to combining real savings for our customers with on-going improvements in customer service, all the more so as the market has now opened for full competition in gas supply and will open in electricity next year."
