ScottishPower Customers Sign Up To Online Energy Savings

16 June 2004

ScottishPower takes energy savings onto the Internet this week with the launch of its new-look 'For Home' website.

The company, which provides one in five homes in Great Britain with services, is unveiling its new customer-friendly website in a bid to encourage customers to apply online and enjoy the benefits of further savings and online incentives.

ScottishPower's 'For Home' site, at www.scottishpower.co.uk offers a savings quote facility and complete online sign-up mechanism, avoiding the need for any time-consuming paperwork or inconvenience. The site also offers a unique, interactive 'energy efficient' house with a wide range of energy saving tips for customers.

The 'For Home' site is being supported by ScottishPower's first online advertising campaign, which aims to promote the benefits of applying online for the Gas & Electricity Offer to the 4 million UK users who have made purchases via the web over the past six months. The campaign includes an online sign-up incentive through a tie-in with Internet brand Amazon.co.uk, offering customers the chance to win Amazon.co.uk vouchers and hi-tech music equipment when they apply for the Gas & Electricity Offer via the 'For Home' site

Stewart Laing, ScottishPower's e-business Project Director commented, "Our savings quote calculator and complete online sign up facility allow our customers to access the Gas & Electricity Offer quickly and efficiently. The 'For Home' website has been designed in response to customer demand, demonstrating that the internet is being used for practical benefits as well as simply for fun. A recent survey* suggests that during this year, e-commerce will be worth £9.5 billion in the UK alone and it is vital that ScottishPower play a full and active role in this developing market"

ScottishPower aims to secure 10% of its energy sales online within the next three years.
