ScottishPower announced today the appointment of Ian Russell as Deputy Chief Executive and Finance Director. The appointment will take effect from 1 November 1998.

Ian Russell will continue in his role as Finance Director and retain Board level responsibility for Southern Water and ScottishTelecom. Ian will also retain responsibility for Finance, Strategic Planning, Information Systems and Corporate Affairs.

Chief Executive Ian Robinson said,
"This appointment reflects Ian's major contribution to the success of ScottishPower.

Since Ian joined the company in 1994 he has played a critical role in the development of the business, particularly the acquisitions of Manweb and Southern Water, and the growth of ScottishTelecom.

Ian's contribution to the business, combined with his drive and sound commercial judgement are reflected in his appointment to this new post"
