The Board of ScottishPower is pleased to announce the appointment of Mair Barnes as a non- executive director with effect from 1 April 1998.

Mair Barnes, age 53, is a graduate of University College of North Wales at Bangor and is a native Welsh speaker. She is Executive Chairman of Vantios plc, the parent company of Dollond & Aitchison, the opticians group (having previously been Managing Director of Woolworths plc) and is also a non-executive director of Abbey National plc and George Wimpey plc.
