ScottishPower is studying Ofgem's draft price proposals for electricity distribution, a long and complex document which requires further analysis before any detailed response can be made.

However we reiterate our view that a balance should be met between the needs of our customers and shareholders, taking into account such issues as cost of capital, efficiency incentives, performance targets and recovery of legitimate costs. In this way we can ensure that our businesses are sufficiently funded to continue to provide our customers with the high quality service they expect.

Today's Review is the latest step in a long process that will set electricity prices for 2000-05 and ScottishPower will make further representations to the Director-General in the coming months before the final Determination is made in November.
