PacifiCorp Power Marketing, Inc in 25 Year Windpower Deal

17 May 2002

PacifiCorp Power Marketing, Inc. (PPM), a ScottishPower company, has signed another major wind power contract a 25-year deal to supply 25 MW to the Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) in Oregon state.

PPM will source the wind energy from its renewable resource portfolio, principally the Stateline Wind Energy Center. EWEB's contract brings PPM's total renewable energy sales to nearly 300 MW. PPM recently began supplying Seattle City Light with 50 MW as part of a 20-year contract that ramps up to 175 MW by August 2004. This is the biggest public utility wind power purchase to date in the United States. Another recent supply contract for 90 MW to the Bonneville Power Administration for 25-years is the largest renewable energy contract in the federal power agency's history.

Terry Hudgens, PPM's CEO, said: "We are delighted to win this contract which shows both the demand for renewable resources in the region and our ability to deliver reliable and affordable wind power tailored specifically for wholesale customers."

The Stateline Wind Energy Center, located on the Washington-Oregon border, began operation last year with completion of the first phase comprising about 400 turbines with a capacity of 265 MW. Plans are underway to expand the facility this year.

PPM, ScottishPower's competitive, US generating and power marketing company, is an affiliate of PacifiCorp which serves 1.5 million customers in six western states.
