New Power Station Proposed For Shoreham Harbour

27 October 1997

South Coast Power, a joint venture between ScottishPower and SEEBOARD (a subsidiary of Central and South West Corporation of the U.S.), is finalising proposals for a new Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power station at Shoreham harbour in Sussex. CSW International Inc will represent CSWs interest in the project.

South Coast Power already holds a Section 36 planning consent to build and operate a station on the disused site of the former Brighton "B" power station. However, because of technological advances the application will be modified to reflect the opportunity for designing a more efficient and environmentally friendly plant.

Accordingly, South Coast Power is currently discussing revised design proposals for the 500 megawatt station with a view to concluding the financial side of the project in March next year.

Schroders has been selected to be Financial Adviser to the project.
