• Europe’s Largest Onshore Windfarm Set To Grow Again - A Further 39 Turbines At Whitelee 11 December 2009 ScottishPower Renewables was today given permission by the Scottish Government to develop a second extension at Whitelee Windfarm, near Glasgow, which will see Europe’s largest onshore windfarm add a further 39 turbines, increasing overall capacity up to 593MW. This means that Whitelee will be capable of generating enough clean, green energy to power over 330,000 homes, more than the 295,000 households in the City of Glasgow*.

The company is the first power generator to be certified.
• Iberdrola Wins Bid To Manage Aguieira And Raiva Hydroelectric Plants In Portugal 12 March 2009 IBERDROLA has won a competition to manage the Aguieira and Raiva hydroelectric power stations in Portugal, with a combined capacity of 360 megawatts (MW). The bid, organised by Energias de Portugal (EDP), was the first of its type to have taken place in the Iberian pensinsula.
• ScottishPower Announces Plans For New Medway Power Station 11 March 2009 ScottishPower has announced plans for a new 1000MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power station to be developed alongside the existing gas-fired Damhead Creek plant at Kingsnorth Industrial Estate near Hoo. The company hopes to submit a planning application under Section 36 of the Electricity Act to the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) in early summer 2009.
• ScottishPower Completes £7m Windfarm Connection 9 March 2009 ScottishPower Energy Networks has recently completed a £7m project to connect the 48MW Aikengall Windfarm to the electricity network, and at the same time the installation of a new substation will help to strengthen the electricity network in the Dunbar area.
