ScottishPower's PPM Completes Texas Gas Storage Purchase

ScottishPower's competitive US energy business, PacifiCorp Power Marketing, Inc. (PPM), has completed the acquisition of the assets of Aquila, Inc.'s Katy gas storage facility, two development opportunities and two other storage facilities, all in Texas, at a purchase price of approximately $162 million in an all cash transaction. The acquisition, first announced in August, is expected to be earnings enhancing in the first full year of ownership.

First Section of Improved Borders Electricity Network Goes Live

ScottishPower switched on the first section of new overhead lines in the Borders today. The commissioning is the first part of ScottishPower's £11 million upgrade of the Borders and Berwick electricity network which will reduce the impact of major storms in the region.

ScottishPower's PPM Enters Into An Agreement To Acquire Aquila's Texas Gas Storage Assets

ScottishPower (SPW) announced today that its competitive US energy business, PacifiCorp Power Marketing, Inc. (PPM) has agreed to acquire, in a purchase of assets, Aquila Corp.'s Katy gas storage facility in Texas and four other gas storage development projects for a cash consideration of $180 million. The acquisition is subject to regulatory review under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act which is expected to be completed within 60 days and other preconditions to closing. The acquisition is expected to be earnings enhancing in the first full year of ownership.

ScottishPower announces that on 18 July 2002 the Oregon Public Utility Commission (OPUC) granted its subsidiary, PacifiCorp, an order to recover approximately $137 million including on-going carrying charges for the recovery of its excess net power costs in Oregon, related to the western power crisis in 2000 and 2001.

PacifiCorp Granted $40m Recovery in Idaho and Oregon

ScottishPower announces that on 7 June 2002 the Idaho Public Utilities Commission (IPUC) granted its US subsidiary PacifiCorp $25 million for the recovery of net excess power costs in Idaho, related to the western power crisis in 2000 and 2001. PacifiCorp originally requested
$37 million, thus resulting in a recovery rate of 68%.

ScottishPower announces that on 1 May 2002 the Utah Public Service Commission (UPSC) granted its subsidiary PacifiCorp approximately $147 million for the recovery of its net excess power costs in Utah, related to the western power crisis in 2000 and 2001. PacifiCorp originally requested $205 million so this represents a recovery rate of 72%.

Update on Thus' Refinancing

On 19 December 2001 we announced that ScottishPower's listed majority owned subsidiary, THUS plc ("THUS"), had agreed the terms of a refinancing which the board of THUS believes would, if successfully completed, leave it in a position to fully finance its business plan through to the point where it becomes cashflow positive. These refinancing arrangements include a new underwritten £90 million bank facility with The Royal Bank of Scotland, TD Bank Europe Limited and Socit Gnrale and ScottishPower agreeing to subscribe for approximately £275 million of new ordinary shares in THUS.
