ScottishPower announced today that it had appointed Merrill Lynch & Co. as a financial adviser to the Company in connection with ScottishPower's agreed merger with PacifiCorp.

Merrill Lynch will provide advice to the Company specifically in relation to the US equity markets.

Commenting on the announcement Ian Russell, Deputy Chief Executive and Finance Director said:

Their pre-eminent US presence will provide additional support to our investor relations activities in the States, and underlines our commitment to maintaining a significant US shareholder base upon completion of the PacifiCorp transaction".
