ScottishPower's PacifiCorp Files Updated Long-Term Resource Plan
26 January 2005
ScottishPower's regulated US business, PacifiCorp, has filed its updated Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) with state regulatory commissions. The IRP is updated every two years and considers a 20-year horizon detailing long-term plans that serve to guide specific electric resource decisions.
The 2004 IRP builds upon its predecessor plan that was published in January 2003 by proposing the addition of more than 2,700 megawatts (MW) of new resources by 2015. These new resource requirements result from the growth in energy needs of current and future customers, combined with lost capacity due to aging plant, reduced output and expiring contracts.
The mix of new resources that performed best in the company's analysis of the next 10 years includes:
- 177 MW of direct load control demand-side management
- Up to 450 average MW of energy conservation programs
- 2,629 MW of thermal generation capacity
- 1,400 MW of economic renewable resources identified in the 2003 IRP
The IRP can be reviewed on PacifiCorp's website at www.pacificorp.com, listed under News and Info.
