ScottishPower's US regulated business, PacifiCorp, and MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company on Friday, 22 July, filed required US federal approval requests with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and notification with the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act as part of the scheduled process to gain approval of MidAmerican's acquisition of PacifiCorp from ScottishPower as announced on 24 May.

The acquisition was approved by ScottishPower shareholders on 22 July, and approval filings have been made with the six state regulators where PacifiCorp operates, in addition to the FERC, DOJ and FTC filings.
