ScottishPower's PacifiCorp Files Rate Case Request in Washington for $39 Million
6 May 2005
ScottishPower announces that on 5 May 2005, its US-regulated subsidiary, PacifiCorp, filed a general rate case request with the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (WUTC) for approximately $39 million related to increases in operating costs, including fuel, purchased power, pension and other employee benefit costs, as well as investment in new generation.
If fully approved by the WUTC as scheduled in April 2006, customer rates are expected to increase by 17.9%. The company is requesting an allowed rate of return on equity of 11.125%, in line with recent requests in other states.
The general rate case filing also requests that power costs be established on a forward-looking basis, as well as the implementation of a power cost adjustment mechanism and ratification of the Multi-State Process (MSP) protocol that has been adopted by four other states served by PacifiCorp.
